Normally the seller pays most brokerage commissions. Therefore if you are the buyer you would only be required to pay closing cost or you might add to the sales contract that the seller pay all closing cost, this is sometimes acceptable. The only way that you would be required to pay a commission is that if you found a For Sale By Owner (FSBO) and you have decided to use a buyers agent. If the FSBO decide or refuse to pay your buyers agent a commission then you would be required to pay a commission to your buyers agent. There will be other that will say the (FSBO)seller will pay the commission, but the (FSBO) did not sign or make a contract with your buyer’s agent, therefore they are not obligated to honor the contract that you signed. yeah ‘artful nudes’ or scenery. Oh check out art at bars. If they’re metro they can handle interesting portraiture and ‘artful nudes’ also interesting portraits, cityscapes, industrial stuff. I think city stuff done well can be really amazing. All black and white stuff.

Does becoming a licensed real estate agent/broker before buying your home save you money? I am planning to buy a home around $700K in New York City. I’m wondering if I will save any money by becoming a licensed real estate agent/broker (I realize I have to take the test and pass) and then purchasing the home for myself. I would think that by doing this, I would save the broker commission that I would otherwise be paying another real estate agent/broker. Is this a valid assumption? Please provide any information about this. Thanks a lot.

In this area the guy that calls himself a developer is also the “money man”. He either has a bunch of money or can raise it from other investors or bankers. That is a very large part of his job and talking with those guys is a big part of his day. Of course the developer finds the land, looks at the market to see what is desired, plans and then executes. A huge part of the day is also trouble shooting. “There is not supposed to be a gas line there!- God look at that flame!” You have to visit city hall pretty often in a suit and also visit with the dirt movers in jeans and be able to talk with both. I would suggest that an apprenticeship would be a great idea.

How does a real estate developers job look like? I am currently finishing up my Bachelor of Architecture degree and am considering aaplying for a masters in real estate development. Can anybody give me a more accurate description of what a real estate developer exactly does/ how a daily routine on the job looks like, especially the first few years after entering the field? A RE Agent sells homes and works for a RE brokerage headed up by a broker. The broker owns the agency and the RE agent works for the broker. You need to begin by taking RE sales courses, then the exam, then shelling out money for your own signs, keyless lock boxes, etc. If you are good, you can move on to the brokerage end and take more classes, another exam (the brokerage exam is a lot tougher than the agent exam), buy a brokerage and proceed. Talk with local RE agencies about exams in NYC
